Is there a real difference?

Is there a SAHM "type" and a WOHM "type" of woman, or is the choice more dependent on circumstances? If you are one or the other, are there circumstances you could imagine switching roles, or are you "programmed" to be one or the other? If you are "programmed" who or what do you think is reponsible for your programming?

Why can't a WOHM be a "like" mom?

WOH does not automatically mean working all day Mon-Fri. There is shift work, part time work, seasonal work etc which could mean a WOHM making the same plans as you on how to spend tomorrow.

which is why i said it depends on the conversation...you're opening up the conversation up to mean something i did not say.

Why would a WOHM have a chip on her shoulder?

I"m fascinated by this -- you don't think you could say to a friend of yours who is a working mom "yeah it 's hot I'm taking the kids to the beach tomorrow" and have the working mom answer "it sure is hot. I may take the day off." or "yeah I'm glad the kids will get to swim at camp, but I'm taking them to the beach this weekend for sure" or "yes it is -- we plan to jump in the pool tomorrow night as soon as we get home"

I agree that some people have chips on their shoulders. IME, I have not noticed any group of people- parents, childfree, wohp, sahps - as having a higher % of people with chips on their shoulder.

A SAHP with a chip on her/his shoulder would probably have just a much trouble with a comment like that as a WOHP with a chip on her/his shoulder.

Complainers find things to complain about- plain and simple.
