"I'm sure it's a knock-down drag-out fight to stop the 3 yo or older age child from breastfeeding."
Nope...they just gradually stop breastfeeding. I can't remember "the last nursing" with either of my children. They went from routine nursing to occasional nursing to me thinking, "Gosh....it's been awhile.....I guess he's done." No fights at all.
"And I don't think you truly "wean" a child who's been nursing for years. The child is so used to extended bf'ing by age 3 or older that I'm sure it's a knock-down drag-out fight to stop the 3 yo or older age child from breastfeeding. "
I didn't realise you had so much experience with children over the age of 1 who still nursed! For some reason, I thought it was so unusual where you live that you've never actually met anyone who nursed a child beyond 1 year (because of that whole "ick" factor, you know). So, out of curiosity...how many children have you known who were nursed past 1 year? Did it turn into a "knock-down drag-out" fight for all of them? I would love to hear more about your experiences on this topic!
<<Like I thought, one really can't make an argument that breastfeeding is "best for a family." Breastmilk is best for a baby. But that has nothing to do with the family. >>
Oh dear, you're really going to have to point me to where I said anything like that.

Certainly there is no way to argue that extended breastfeeding is NOT best, or even unnecessary. :-)
You can hate me, but do it because you know me, not because I’m a member of a group. Anyways, people aren’t grapes --- you can’t weigh them in a bunch, but I guess it’s easier than dealing with people as individuals. There, I’ve solved the riddle of prejudice: it saves time.
Well you might want to have a look at your own posts with respect to being rude. I tend not to report posts either. If you really felt as though I was so rude, then why continue to respond when you have said that you were through responding to me, then proceed to tell me that my posts were rude.

Well you know what they say about assumptions? Like I have said already YOU conceded the debate. I didn't say a word that you conceded that my opinion was correct. I said I will take it that you concede. Then I later said that you conceded the debate. Look in the post you just wrote...you copied what I said there as well. See? (((I said I was referring to the debate.))) So your the one with incorrect assumptions. Clear now?
No, it is a necessary age appropriate tool for my childrens well being in their education and need for independent entertainment.

Really? You can't do that yourself? School can't do that? A whiffle ball and bat can't do that? A book can't do that? A puzzle can't do that?
Is it really necessary, or is it just an extra tool that you use to help it along?

But not a necessary tool, just one of many. Right?

If it's not necessary to kiss your child, why do it?
If it's not necessary to watch TV, why do it?
My answer?
Again, I'm not.
