Gee, I have a feeling she read it as "to accept as true, valid, or accurate" or "to acknowledge grudgingly or hesitantly," which is the actual definition of the word concede. If you meant "give up," you weren't using the traditional definition of the word concede. To say someone "concedes the debate" doesn't really make a whole lot of sense.
it is not necessary or appropriate for a school aged child to want to suckle their mothers breast for comfort and security. There is no benifit for the child or mother. So why not stop a habit befor it gets much more diffuclt to stop.
No, not when it comes to my children, brain game video games and computer games and certain television shows are a definate necessity to their education.
You've never had the experience of calming your crying baby by nursing? Pediatricians even recommend nursing babies after they receive their shots to reduce their pain perception. Nursing comforts them. Feeling warm and full go a long way to feeling comforted and secure. I know I feel a lot more comforted and secure snuggled up in bed with a full tummy than I do if I'm cold and hungry. Why would it be different for babies?

I know Samantha would often calmn down only if she was being nursed, even if she wasn't hungry. Babies can be reassured in other ways, certainly, but your question was "What do infants need to be reassured about?"-- not "Why do babies need to be reassured by nursing?" My answer to the latter question would be-- they don't.

What exactly is a traditional meaning?
To concede the debate does mean...
be willing to concede; "I grant you this much"
give over; surrender or relinquish to the physical control of another
When she made a comment about it, I explained to her what I meant.
Yes it does make sense. Read the definition.

But of course that is not true, videos are not necessary.

It's not a good analogy since one required by law and the other is a preference.
