Top 3 Excuses I Can't Stand from WOHMs..

1. We NEED two incomes to survive... Yeah Right! I honestly believe that out of the people that say this 90% would be just fine if they would cut their lifestyle, move to a cheaper area and sacrifice. I am not buying it one bit when people say this.

2. I put my kid in Daycare for the socialization.. Good grief, how much socialization does a 10 month old need?? Besides there are better ways to much socialize young children.

3. I am a better mom if I work outside the home.. UGHH! How in the world do you think you are a better mom by handing your kid off to Grandma or someone else to raise while you go work?? Unless you are going to beat them or verbally abuse them, I always think at home with mom is where kids thrive the most..

THere are others I can't stand, but these are my top 3. Have at it..

MMV's BIG time, LOL! Maybe the difference for us is that Alyssa is in a wheelchair and tube-fed. None of that is a big deal to us and it isn't to the 3-year old either. Of course I ALREADY outlined all of the other options for where else to change her and there were NO other suitable ones.

then again, I don't go to the bathroom with the door open -- not even with dh in the room.

yep. YMMV. I like the way we have accomplished ours just fine!

we put a towel under her on the couch. Have you EVER lifted a 60 pounder with NO muscle tone off the floor???? Walk in my shoes -- then you can tell me what YOU would do, LOL!

Obviously, I have no experience in this area but I think I would handle it the same way.

But her dd is not a typical family member and, IMO, does not have the same need for privacy.

personally, no, i don't think there is anything there to debate. Maybe you need to try to put yourself in my shoes (and that of my family) who have been dealing with this child for 13 years. Certainly if we were somewhere unfamiliar I would look for a more appropriate place to have changed her. However, we were at my sister's house and saw no reason to do so. Of course, I have let her change her little ones (now 3 & 1) on my couch:)

in fact, in all her three years I think that, so far, has been the ONLY time that she has seen her cousin's diaper changed!

also, as she's potty-trained she KNOWS where SHE needs to go and to close the door. she knows that her cousin, though older, is a BABY and, as such, is treated a bit differently. For us this is all matter-of-fact.

I had the same experience, reverse genders. I WOH with DS1, but it was such a process getting him potty trained that DH and I certainly felt involved! I SAH with DD, but she pretty much trained herself. She just started to use the potty on her own one day sometime before she was 2. There was really no training for anyone to be involved with, so even though it was less than a year ago I have no memory of potty training her. Now DS2, being autistic, was a process unto itself! He's pretty much gotten it now, at almost 5. (Which is probably why DD trained herself -- she spent a year watching us with DS2 and decided it looked easier than he was making it out to be.)
