Top 3 Excuses I Can't Stand from WOHMs..

1. We NEED two incomes to survive... Yeah Right! I honestly believe that out of the people that say this 90% would be just fine if they would cut their lifestyle, move to a cheaper area and sacrifice. I am not buying it one bit when people say this.

2. I put my kid in Daycare for the socialization.. Good grief, how much socialization does a 10 month old need?? Besides there are better ways to much socialize young children.

3. I am a better mom if I work outside the home.. UGHH! How in the world do you think you are a better mom by handing your kid off to Grandma or someone else to raise while you go work?? Unless you are going to beat them or verbally abuse them, I always think at home with mom is where kids thrive the most..

THere are others I can't stand, but these are my top 3. Have at it..

Thats what I mean. I feel like if someone wants in your pool badly enough to first trespass on your property and then climb over your fence or pick/break the lock on the gate, the cover isnt really going to stop them.

And since fencing requirements aren't really aimed at protecting adult trespassers from trying to go for an uninvited dip, I'm not too concerned about spending thousands of extra dollars on a pool cover that *might* keep them out.

A proper fence and a good locked gate will keep out young children and will keep someone from accidently wandering onto one's property and into one's pool. Thats good enough for me!!

Edited to fix a typo

I understand that but we didn't put the cover on to protect the neighbors, we put it on to protect our young kids.

Agreed, it's probably not about the privacy needs of the 13yo. But I wasn't thinking of the 3yo having issues with how to behave once she's a teen.

I am not questioning your need to change your dd in the LR. But I am questioning the appropriateness of allowing your 3yo to observe.

I understand what you are saying but I don't think it is an issue.

it was my sister's 3 year old and, obviously, she had no issues with it whatsoever. just like she has no issues when my niece sees her or her older sister naked OR watches her younger baby sister get her diaper changed.

NONE of us deem it inappropriate in any way, especially since alyssa is generally referred to as "baby alyssa" since she functions on a 2-month old level.

no issues with the 3 year old at all. she realizes that her cousin is "different" and just seems to take "baby alyssa" at face value. at alyssa's bat-mitzvah she was with my ex FIL and alyssa and just kept on talking and talking to alyssa.

i have no fear of her wanting to emulate alyssa's feeding method since alyssa is fed with a g-tube directly into her stomach. she hasn't had solid food since she was about 4 years old.

That's good to know, for future reference (if we ever decide to put in a pool). I've always been told you can only use them on rectangular pools.

And that is the most wonderful thing about 3 year olds.
