Top 3 Excuses I Can't Stand from WOHMs..

1. We NEED two incomes to survive... Yeah Right! I honestly believe that out of the people that say this 90% would be just fine if they would cut their lifestyle, move to a cheaper area and sacrifice. I am not buying it one bit when people say this.

2. I put my kid in Daycare for the socialization.. Good grief, how much socialization does a 10 month old need?? Besides there are better ways to much socialize young children.

3. I am a better mom if I work outside the home.. UGHH! How in the world do you think you are a better mom by handing your kid off to Grandma or someone else to raise while you go work?? Unless you are going to beat them or verbally abuse them, I always think at home with mom is where kids thrive the most..

THere are others I can't stand, but these are my top 3. Have at it..

well one can only hope this one dies quicker than the recently unlamented "did you or did you not sign the same card as your boyfriend 20 years ago" debate.... ;-)

Yes. We. Did.

We could all lay bets as to how long this one goes on without being closed down by the PTB. Closest one to the number without going over wins a batch of my homemade cookies.

So you've only ever gone to one pool OR you research the qualifications of every lifeguard b/f you go to a new pool? You really think most pools employ lifeguards who are EMTs?

Obviously, it's up to you to minimize risks as you see fit. I guess swimming in pools with pool drains is a risk I'm willing to take with my kids.

I was hoping somone would introduce the threat of jellyfish to liven things up but, alas.

Yes, I know but as you disagreed with me that it was a comfort level, I stated it again that it was for me.

I think of course it would depend on the construction, maintenance and supervision at the pool...but again any situation is going to carry a risk.

Two questions:
1) Why would life guards need to be EMTs? I would think CPR and first aid would be fine.

2) Your pool only has two guards? How long is it open daily? How big is your pool? Our community/neigborhood pool has (guessing) 8 - 12 guards. Some are year round, but most are summer hires so are HS or college students. They teach the lessons in the am and guard from 11am to 9pm every day seven days a week. There are at least three guards in chairs at all times, whenit gets really busy there are 5 - they rotate every 15 minutes.

I didn't think jellyfish could live in lakes - I thought they only existed in salt water?

Actually the only pool we have used is our current pool. We did use the pool this year when we went on vacation but it was a zero entry pool that didnt go over 3.5 ft anywhere.

<<>>

No and I didnt imply or say that.

<<>>

I take that risk too. However I dont take that risk when there isnt a professional lifeguard on duty.
