Unique contributions to society

In another thread, the "unique" contributions of SAHM's were alluded to but it wasn't stated what they are. Let's play a game and find out what they are. First, pretend that as of tomorrow, all moms SAH and detail what will be missing from society then pretend that all moms go to work and detail what will be missing from society. I'm really curious as to what people think a world without SAHM's orWOHM's would look like.
If all the moms who SAH went to work then the library would move story hour to the evening and summer vacation bible school would be held in the evenings so that all kids can attend and not just the kids of SAHM's. Banks would likely shift their hours to later in the day and you'd see more 24 hour stores. I think there would be more home cooking style restaurants too. I think day care centers would improve because of increased demand.
If all moms who WOH suddenly SAH, you'd see fewer service industries around because moms could do things themselves instead of paying for them. The nursing shortage would be more of a shortage. We'd probably have a shortage of teachers too. There'd be fewer government services because there'd be less tax dollars to pay for them. I can't think of anything else right now.

It's school?

again, how many times do i have to say this, myself, before you will just quit accusing me of thinking otherwise? would you like me to link the several times i have said the exact same thing in the past two days? here is part of the very post you are responding to: <<<...SAHPS CAN AND OFTEN DO CONTRIBUTE TO SOCIETY ... I HAVE NEVER SAID THAT SAHPS *CAN'T* CONTRIBUTE MORE TO SOCIETY THAN THE CARE FOR THEIR CHILDREN, NOR THAT THEIR CARING FOR THEIR CHILDREN IS NOT CONTRIBUTING SOMETHING TO SOCIETY. >>> i know you don’t like what i’m saying here, but could you pretty please at least make up new and different wild accusations that aren’t directly contradicted by what i’ve said post after post?
the concept of "more important" is, as it was when you recently also attributed it to another poster who likewise was saying no such thing, *your* value judgement, and *yours alone*. i'm not making any value judgements here--i am debating something apart from them entirely.
if *you* want to debate what's "more important" go for it--raise the topic, and i will, depending on what you and others say about it, engage in debate about it. but so far the only thing that can be said about it is that you have stated your opinion about it and accused me and another poster of having contrary opinions, apparently because you don't like what we are saying about something else entirely.
So, we should not send our children to school? How is school not acceptable enough?
Personally , I don't think I would home school... so the alternative is to never have my child educated.
And like I said in a previous post, teachers are not just pulled in off the street.
I don't understand how school would not be a good enough reason for you to send your children there? Explain to me how school is not a good enough.

>>No, why would I think that? Never stated anything along those lines. What you don't seem to be reading and you are definitely not answering, is why a parent is "needed" one day and not "needed" the next. <<
The parent is not needed *as much* because the child is no longer *at home*. It's not that hard of a concept to grasp...
>> But as you state "it's school", so I guess that means since the sahp now has a free place that is "socially" acceptable, they can allow another to care and educate their child? Is that what you mean by "it's school"?<<
Are your children old enough for school? What did you do? Choose to send them to school? Why? Because it's a bad idea to never send them... you can home school, or you could pay for private school if your hung up on the 'free daycare' school provides.
While some parents see school as free daycare, i see it as an education...
I guess I just see it simpler... go to school... dont go to school... hmm, hard one to choose i suppose
....add on here.
What's funny about the "it's school" is that the difference between my children's preschool and their elementary school was negative to the elementary school side.

Well, i never said that a child should just be booted out the front door... Research is always a good idea. But school is one of the facts of life (like death and taxes). No schooling is a bad idea. So I would send my child to school when the appropriate age is reached (whatever age they will accept students) because it's time to start schooling.
Its just that simple.
I dont see it as complicated or why it's *suddenly* acceptable to send my child off one day when the previous it wasn't.
Those jobs are not abundant. Usually, these women have at their jobs for years and their employers will make concessions. Try being out of the work force for years and finding flexible employment.
No, it is not rocket science just common sense.
