For the past 6 years my children have been in a school with volunteering during school hours. You could be a class parent, plan parties, go on field trips, spirit day, lunch room, recess, coaching, etc.

Our school did not allow younger children in. Mostly a room thing, because parents WERE invited, and the room was crowded enough with the teacher, 20 kids, and at least 20 parents.

I don't think we are talking about the same things. I'm thinking homeroom mom comes up to the school to say, help decorate for a party. Does she have to hire a sitter to be able to come up for that? I already know the answer if there is a party, like Halloween, all younger sibs are invited at our school. I'm more thinking of those times when it's not 20 parents, it's all the kids plus the teacher and 2 homeroom moms show up to help out with something for an hour.

IME, decorating and set up is done when the classroom of students are at some out class, recess or someplace else.

In our school you would. They don't allow siblings to be in the school like that.

Insurance reasons. They are not covered for the siblings to stay there while school is in session.

That doesn't answer my question though. I wasn't asking whether schools in general allow sibs. I was asking if homeroom moms generally get to bring sibs along, this in a school where sibs are always invited to anything parents and school aged kids are invited to too.

That would be my concern with parent volunteers in the class room. That is one thing that thankfully has not caught on down here.

Volunteering was, definitely, part of the mommy olympics when my kids were little.
