Everywhere I look it seems that organizations are asking for your help as a volunteer.

I think parents have an obligation to help out in their kids activites when and where they can. I volunteer at school in ways that match my time, interests, and abilities. I volunteer through church. I volunteer in several professional organizations. I try not to overload my plate, but once in awhile I do get overwhelmed by the numerous and often conflicting demands on my time.

Oh, and The Girl is volunteering at the children's museum too. Has just gotten started but is really enjoying it.

My position on volunteering--volunteer where you want to and politely say no to everything else.

I'm jealous there are end of the year things you can get involved with for your 8th grader, Lol. My daughter is in 8th grade too and there is no one thing planned that isn't already going on.. School dances, for example are for the entire middle school. I am waitng on announements about high school orientation, meetings and so forth but I'm not even convnced now that's too big of a deal either, I think there are some things other schools do better.

I don't think volunteering is entirely for moms who don't work but you do have to find the time to get involved if you want to get involved.
