"We don 't believe in that [WOHM]"

On Friday, as I was driving hom from work, I stumbled across an interview with the wife of the one surviving miner from the collapse in WVa. In the course of the interview, someone asked her if she worked.

Her response was that they don't believe in that. She explained that her husband was very proud of the fact that he was the sole supporter of the family, and that he didn't need her help in supporting them. She explained that they just don't believe in women working after they have kids and husbands, and that they believe her place is at home with the kids.

My heart really goes out to her, and this post isn't about her, but about the sentiment that women shouldn't work because their place is at home. And being a real man, even if it means working in dangerous conditions, long hours, holding two jobs and being a step away from poverty at every turn, means that your wife doesn't work.

I suppose this is the first time that I've heard someone, not a movie character or a character in a book, express this sentiment. I don't understand why anyone would be proud to limit their spouse's potential. Or why be proud that you live right on the poverty line?

If they didn't see the dangers of their POV before, surely that entire community, and even the whole country, has now seen the risk that we talk about on here all the time, the risk that suddenly the SAHM will need to find a way to financially support the family. I wonder if anyone will re-think what they believe in.

Because law is what he enjoys. HE had no desire to be an attorney so he went into being a policeman. He loves what he does and makes a difference. He was a drug cop for years, then a drug detective, and an ATF agent. He is now a Sgt in a very rough side of town. He enjoys his job and will be doing it for years to come. I can tell you it was not for the money.

Okay, taken the wrong way, probably largely due to the way I esplained it. I don't mean that I am never going to let him experience things and learn on his own. I meant, I will ask where he is going every time he goes out. I know I will not get the truth all the time, but that's normal. I will demand respect from him, and teach him to respect others. Things parents do, not literally "control" him. I want him to be his own person, and am sure I will enjoy (most of the time) watching him become the man he will one day be.

Remember I said as a whole. It that ok for goddess to say that cops as a whole are racist? I am still waiting on your take on that one. He did have a defense attorney in one situation. A man hit his partner with a car, and was attempting to hit my DH. After he missed my DH he attempted to hit my DH partner again and both my DH and his partner fired and killed the man. Again..what part of AS A WHOLE is wrong?

Again...You are right that in part are to protect people wrongly accused....I said that Defense attorney's also get criminals sentences reduced or get them off. Hey look at OJ. How about Scott Peterson's attorneys. Thank goodness the people weren't falling for that man's stories.

Call yourself a non-traditional student or a student-parent. You know that there are all kinds of financial aid options for returning students, right?

No, it's not clear as you stated law profession as a whole and not the the lawyers that I worked for.

In your opinion, what percentage of cops use excessive force or are corrupt?

Yes they are only little once. Yes...I think it is ok to miss the firsts. I don't plan on being there when my children first do a lot of things in life. However it is important to me that I am when they are small. WHy is it so important to you to work?
