so i promised to back off the duggar debate but the feedback really does have me wondering.

Not all poor single mothers live in roach infested apts/houses. I only remember having roaches once...we got rid of them quickly. It was a cold winter. Anyways...just because you live in poor places doesn't mean there are roaches. I don't think that will make a child appreciate the things they have better, it will just gross them out. It always did to me when I saw them...fleas too.


I don't think children will understand what it is to be poor or struggle unless they live through it themselves. They can see it but not understand it. Helping out and volunteering will give them more a sense of what it is to help people without expecting something in return. That will help them appreciate the things they have more when they understand what it is like to do something for others with nothing in return but a 'thank you'.
