What about eating issues?

We have debated sleeping issues to death once again....so what about another one of the issues of childhood....eating and/or not eating?

My kids eat just about anything and have a pretty well rounded diet.

Dh just replaced his decrepit black and white Adidas flip-flops with a pair of Reefs (with a bottle opener in the sole to impress his friends), so now he can pretend to be a diver instead of a soccer player while taking the kids to the pool.

I don't think that it's the number of times a month that kids have sugary treats that makes the difference, but the circumstances under which they have them. PNJ's kids seem to have such ordered, quiet lives that any deviation from their routine is likely to be exciting, and therefore they will act "hyper" because they are being bombarded with unusual stimuli. My kids don't get sugar very often either, but when they do, it's no big deal --- it's usually when we have guests, but we have guests a lot. or at a birthday party or church picnic something, but they go to so many of those that they are almost routine now. If they get sugar at Disneyland, they get hyper. If they don't get sugar at Disneyland, they act hyper. They're excited.

Sounds like fun.

You know, Georgia O'Keefe only wore black and white.

Understatement doesn't HAVE to mean a rut.

I have given up on the backyard. The dogs have ruined it. They run back and forth from one side of the yard to the other barking at school busses, Fed Ex and UPS trucks, motorcycles, people, the list is endless, really. Consequently, they have paved themselves a little "goat trail" right across the yard. The grass won't go there. The dirt is packed down from them running on it all day every day. :-) Plus, they chew up all their toys so that I have that white stuffing stuff everywhere and old socks they have dragged out. (I'm forever finding my underwear out there.)

Plus, there are old deflated balls -- the rescue dog pops all the balls and then likes to play tug with them -- and a ton of bones.

It's their yard. They have claimed it. :-) Landscaping it would be like decorating DS' room. Like he would let me, LOL.

I thought about this last night. I don't want to put myself on a pedestal and make everyone thing I'm some kind of saintly mom. I don't find joy in DS 24 hours a day. Some days I wonder, "Why did I do this?" But for the most part, I love doing things with him. This week is the week between school and camp, so we are spending it together. Yesterday we rode our bikes to the library, which was very nice indeed, so that we could both sign up for our respective summer reading programs. Then we went to the gym. I did my step class, then we went swimming. I read HP #5 to him last night. We are also scouting around for HP parties -- he is so excited that I'm letting him go to one of those bookstore parties. Today we are going to the park.

I do understand about needing and wanting to work because I need and want to work, too. But to say, "I don't need anymore time with my family" is something I just don't understand. I'm always looking for more time. That's the whole point of working toward a "balanced" life -- at least it is to me. They really do grow up so fast. He's going to be 8 years old next week! Where did the time go?

Sugar is in everything these days. It's called, "high fructose corn syrup."

I was stuck in a rut like PNJ. For years. I wore only "conservative" clothes for all of the same reasons. I would have never considered buying "junk" from Target.

Not anymore, LOL. It has taken me awhile, but I'm finally waking up to my own style. Now I wear skorts and shorts that aren't "tailored." I bought few stretchy t-shirts, cheap ones. I'm not tucking in my shirt and I'm no longer wearing a belt. My waistbands are falling below my navel. I even bought new workout clothes in lime green and orange! Gasp! My toenails are hot pink. Last week I even had pink fingernails!

Now I've noticed I'm pasty white. Yesterday at step class the instructor said to another woman, "Oh, what a gorgeous tan! Did you spend the weekend at the beach?" The woman laughed and said, "No, this is out of a bottle!" Can you see the lightbulb that went on? Hmmmmm . . . I'm going to the drugstore to see what I can find.

But I absolutely refuse to wear a thong!

I don't wear white shorts or white trousers because even with the lining, you can see right through them.

All of my other shorts are dark or khaki. I purchase underwear that fit, so while I have no problem with panty lines, I don't have to worry about the "peekaboo" effect.

I just got some unbelieveable lightweight capris from Title 9. The don't wrinkle at all! Huge plus for me since I don't iron at all, lol. I'm going to order the rest of the colors.

I'm telling you, my look is ruled by my hair. Oh, and whether or not I have some sort of tan (fake or not). If I am tan, I feel I can totally skip makeup...Not tan? I feel like I need a ton.

This marathon thing? Anyone can do it! The program that the Team in Training has is really incredible. I started out 2 1/2 months ago, having a hard time with 3 miles. Now, I can toss off 8 like it's nothing. Well, not *nothing* ;). It's slow, building 10% a week. Just time consuming.

I would love to do pilates, but I haven't found the time to fit in

And I was thinking about it after I posted, too. Like, it's nice to have 'your look'
