What about eating issues?

We have debated sleeping issues to death once again....so what about another one of the issues of childhood....eating and/or not eating?

My kids eat just about anything and have a pretty well rounded diet.

When I'm with the kids in the summer, I wear shorts and cotton sleeveless blouses.

Oh, I am so with you! DH bought me a Coach black bag a few years ago. I am heartily sick of it. I don't care how "good" it is. I saw a woman with an orange leather backpack/purse last week. I said, "Where did you get that?" and she said, "I know. It's great, huh? TJ Maxx, on sale, $20." I am so there!

Because, maybe like Aspen, he needs a little push sometimes. I think many, many people wouldn't try something new (whether it's hair, wardrobe, food, travel) without someone else giving them some encouragement. That's why we are all different.

But when does it change from encouragement to pushing/nagging? If the encouragement hasn't worked in 10 years ...

Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color.  Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense and choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.

The majority of people in the world do not want to spend every free minute with their children.

But if he doesn't want to try something, and you agree that it is a trivial matter, why push him in the first place? Why not just let him enjoy being who he is.

This does make me think of the WNTW episodes. Sure, the people ar temporaily thrilled with $5000 in new clothes and a pampered haircut, lots of makeup and a big party for them. Heck, someone give me a free facial, haircut and $5000 to spend on clothes and I'd have a nice weekend as well. But if you look down the road a year or so, it's not like new clothes or a new haircut change the essence of who you are.

I'm sure I'd probably drive you nuts. I carried the same Coach black leather purse for 5 years. They still sell it, exactly as it was when i bought mine. I keep it cleaned and conditioned, and it still looks good. When I wanetd a different purse, I bought a camel Marc Jacobs leather purse. It's the same exact style that he's been selling for over 10 years. And five years from now, it'll be the same exact style still being sold. And since I take care of it, it'll still look good, and it'll still be stylish.

Ive had various hairstyles, but for me, I know how my hair looks best. So, I keep it the same way. What's so bad about knowing what you like and enjoying it?

I don't care how wonderful a child is, I don't want to spend time with him at 5:30 am, which is the time I believe her son does or used to get up.

Maybe I'll mention making an appointment with my stylist once in a GREAT while. It's not the different haircut he's avoiding (I don't think), it's the appointment-making. He likes to just go to the barber when he *needs* to get a haircut, not have to make an appointment. And he'll put up with an Enzo, just like Seinfeld.

He's funny. His work wardrobe is totally expensive and up-to-date. His going out clothes? Seriously hard for me to take sometimes. He says the image that he projects to his customers is important, what he wears on his downtime is for comfort only. I don't get that at all.
