What about eating issues?

We have debated sleeping issues to death once again....so what about another one of the issues of childhood....eating and/or not eating?

My kids eat just about anything and have a pretty well rounded diet.

But is a 'push' an encouragement.

Think of the donkey and carrot/stick illustration (not that your husband and dd are donkeys, but are reluctant to move on their own).

No, you wouldn't drive me nuts. I think there are more people like you than there are like me. I don't know many women at all actually, who routinely cut off and color their hair as often as I do. All of my girlfriends and sil's are willingly, happily in (what I would call) fashion ruts. It's just not something that I understand. There isn't just one *look* that works for an individual. Stick with your house, your kids, your spouse, sure. Change up the hair and makeup routine sometimes. It's a safe way to play.

Hands up, I surrender.

To me, you seem so uptight about clothes and image and what is appropriate and what is not. Maybe it is simply defensiveness on your part because this board occasionally takes on a "Let's improve PJM" bent. You are in a completely different corner now than where you were when trying to convince us that a little makeup is good, that buying a fun pair of shoes is good for the soul. Then I thought you were trying to say, "Live a little! Spend a little. Be frivilous. It's fun!" Now imagine that people are trying to say to you, "Live a little. Change a little. Try something new. It's fun!"

Oh well.

I have to go put on my swimming suit. I will be spending the next eight hours wearing it. I won't be having an Ann Taylor day. Today is the first pool day of the year. Wish me luck.

I'm not suggesting that people give birth/adopt in order to do child-centered activities.

Doesn't it damage your hair to be coloring it constantly?

Have fun. If I were going to a pool, I'd wear my suit under my blouse and shorts!

Allen wears the same thing at home/out that he does at work. Dockers and a button-up shirt.

Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color.  Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense and choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.

I've been coloring my hair every 4 to 8 weeks (depends on my mood and the cut) since I turned 33.

Depends. With the hair thing, I can't think of a 'carrot'. What would be the great benefit for dh to try a new hair style other than I would think it's sexy? Is that a carrot? I already think he's sexy.

All good points and I like hearing from you perspective.

No. I am very lucky to have great hair. Granted, I have yet to totally bleach it blonde, but my hair takes all coloring/products very well.
