What about eating issues?

We have debated sleeping issues to death once again....so what about another one of the issues of childhood....eating and/or not eating?

My kids eat just about anything and have a pretty well rounded diet.

I've tried to stay out of this thread because I don't care what you wear or what anyone wears. But it does send a red flag up to me that you describe your 3 y/o child as whiny, demanding, and manipulative. Is there something that's causing him to be that way? Is he a generally unhappy child?

You didn't sound as if you were worried about Virgo's intake of trace minerals when you were admonishing her about not eating a varied diet. You sounded as if you thought she was deliberately not getting the most she could out of life because she wasn't experimental enough. I don't care what Virgo eats, and I don't care what you wear. But it's a bit much for you to expect us to believe that you were worried about trace minerals in Virgo's diet.

He's a more difficult to please child - especially compared to his brother (which I try hard not to do, certainly not in their earshot).

Don't you know any children whose personalities are less than agreeable a lot of the time (or were at age 3)?

"The majority of people in the world do not want to spend every free minute with their children."

How can you speak for the majority of people in the world? I admit that I need time to myself and with dh occasionally, but I DO basically spend most of my time with my son. He's nine. He's an only child. We like each other, we have fun together. I do know that eventually his peers will win out and he'll hardly be home at all so I'm enjoying the years that I do get to spend lots of time with him.

There is a need for balance, but from now until he's older I'm enjoying my time with him as much as possible...because give it another 5 yrs or so and I'll likely hardly ever see him. The rest of my life is plenty of time to spend my free time doing hobbies and whatever else I want to do. If you don't see it that way, that's your right. But don't speak for the majority of the world.

I would try therapy or something if I had a visceral, in born reaction to trying new clothes or clothes of a certain texture.

I don't need to take a vote on the pizza, see, because there are enough kinds that everyone can find something they like. It might not be everyone's first choice, but I don't see that everyone is getting a first choice with your way either. But you know what. I am done talking to you about hostessing. It has become really clear that you are having way more fun belittling other people than we are in listening to you.

My 3 year old is whiny and demanding;)

She's also creative, bubbly, hilarious, infuriating, emotional, affectionate, loving, imaginative, obstinate, rebellious, dramatic...I could go on all day!

And she's happy...then unhappy...then happy...then unhappy. Depends what exact moment you catch her!! Overall though I like this age. They are too funny!

So by contesting my statement, does that mean you think the majority of parents do want to spend every free minute with their children, or that neither of us can make a sweeping statement like that?

I maintain that the majority of parents are not as intensely child focused as the posters here are.

I make home made pizza. ;) Actually I've been told I make the best veggie one yet.

In our house I make two kinds-veggie for dh and whatever ds wants, and never have a problem.

Pssst, PNJ ... I maintain that the posters here are not as intensely child focused as the posters here say they are.

Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color.  Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense and choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.
