What about eating issues?

We have debated sleeping issues to death once again....so what about another one of the issues of childhood....eating and/or not eating?

My kids eat just about anything and have a pretty well rounded diet.

Hope you remembered to have corn, wheat, and whole wheat tortillas.

My dh and I have a knack for going to Morton's (or here in Minneapolis, Manny's) on prom night, I don't know why. It just cracks me up to see the blond seventeen year old girls in their pastel dresses in such a dark, masculine place. Definitely fish out of water!

I think it would be rude to serve a meal he couldn't eat at all. If you served chicken, mashed potatoes (made with butter and milk) and peas with butter on top, then he'd have to sit there and watch while everyone else ate. Yes, I think that would be an unforgivably rude thing for a sister and hostess to do.

If you served chicken, baked potatoes, peas with no butter, and some sort of bean thing, then it would be OK.

Or you could try to maximize the experience and get the kids involved in preparing a new vegan dish for you all to try. Why not? What's the harm in not eating meat every night? My kids love tabouli and hummus. Would it kill any of you to try something new for once?

Congratulations! I'm so happy to hear it. I just heard the good news and popped back over, just in case you were still checking in.

Oh, brother. I am pretty sure I pushed food on guests at my house. I forget what it was (blocking it out?), but we had friends over, and later I realized I'd gone on and on about this one dish, and how it was a new thing but that I'd read it was really good, blah blah blah. So by the time I brought it out (I think it was a dessert), I definitely got the sense that people were trying it more out of duty than anything else. LOL. Oh well.

Congratulations! I'm so happy to hear it. I just heard the good news and popped back over, just in case you were still checking in.

I didn't think you were being condescending, just so you know.

I think I have a lot to learn all the time.

If it makes you feel any better, I feel the same way. . .that *I* have lots to learn, that is.

I think continuing to learn about children, in general. . .and our children, as individuals. . .is the hallmark of a good parent.

Like most of the posters here, you're off to a fabulous start in that regard.

Eh, I dont know. I used to make myself try cottage cheese every so often, thinking I would develop a taste for it. I never did-I cannot take the texture. Same with cream cheese, sour cream.
