What about eating issues?

We have debated sleeping issues to death once again....so what about another one of the issues of childhood....eating and/or not eating?
My kids eat just about anything and have a pretty well rounded diet.

And I understand having certain sleep needs. My sister has sleep issues and she just doesn't deal as well with sleep interruptions. I really feel badly for her because if her baby wakes up she can't go back to sleep and it really affects her.
She's not totally rigid but she is more careful about protecting her kids' nap schedule than I am.
And BTW I read Weisbluth cover to cover;) I decided not to implement his theories but I know they have helped some of my friends.
In NYC we don't have "drive" ins but we have free outdoor movie nights at various locations like Bryant Park. It's so much fun...I bet DC must have something similar. They show old movies too which makes it more fun for some reason:

Can you believe 9.00 for a double feature/triple feature? I was astounded and it is tons of fun. The kids were just amazed. No digital sound system, no stadium sitting. They are putting up two more screens this year. Right now, they just have one.
This weekend, they are playing Mr and Mrs Smith and Stars War. I am highly tempted but the Alex would hate both. So, no go on this weekend.

I don't think I could do the many things I do with my children (and dh) if my kids weren't flexible....then I would be miserable at home and they would be happy at home.

Does swooning over Kurt Vonnegut count? He came to Keplers in Palo Alto years ago. Thrilling!

Hey Dogma! I have a book for you! I'm reading it to DS right now -- "The Boy who Spoke Dog." It won a "Granite Face" award here in NH. It's about a boy who is shipwrecked on an island that has a bunch of sheep dogs (as in, dogs who herd sheep, not Sheepdogs, the breed) and wild dogs, and he joins the pack of sheep dogs. The story is told from both the boy and one of the dog's perspective. The reason I thought of you is because the dog narrator is a Border named Moxie!
It's a children's book, but it's very well written -- at least the first chapter is. Very exciting. DS begged me to keep reading!

One of my good friends works at the local independent book store in town. She is planning a huge party with the books being dispursed at midnight. We went last time and it was fabulous. The whole block gets involved (and shut down to traffic.) There were all sorts of activities and events to participate in and the ice cream shop was open and the Dunn Brothers was open and it was just an overall blast. We dressed up in character as did a majority of attendees. My two older kids still talk about it today.
We'll have to check out that website and the movie trailer. Thanks.
But I don't know that you ever could truly understand our differences. . .that's the point.
Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color. Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense and choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.
