What about eating issues?

We have debated sleeping issues to death once again....so what about another one of the issues of childhood....eating and/or not eating?

My kids eat just about anything and have a pretty well rounded diet.

These are good questions.

>>>>>>Why do some people find it stressful to WOH FT and have young children? I know some of the reasons, but obviously not all.>>>>>

For me, it was stressful because of the time crunch and timing conflicts--babies getting sick on the same day that I and DH both had meetings we had to attend, for instance. Trying to fit all household chores, evening childcare, daycare lunch-packing, cooking and meal cleanup, and family fun into a 3-4 hour time slot in the evenings. I do understand that it's variable. Maybe if I'd had a nanny instead of using DC, or if I were more organized all around, or if DH were more helpful, or if I'd had a mellow baby, I would not have found it unduly stressful.

>>>>>>>Why do some people think a SAHP is important, yet think they don't need to closely supervise their children?>>>>>>>

Because close supervision may not be the primary reason those particular people think SAH is important. I've even heard some people say they think SAH is important because they want their kids to have more free, unstructured time, which could translate into less supervision.

>>>>>>>>Why are some people satisfied with more free time and less money, and others want more money and care less about the amount of free time they have?>>>>>>

For me, it's because frankly I already have plenty of money. If I were actually lacking in anything material, I'd be looking for ways to make more money. But at this point, I don't see how more money (at least, the additional amount I could reasonably expect to make if I agressivly pursued a career advancement) would improve life for myself or my family. I do see how less free time, fewer vacations, or a less flexible schedule would affect our lives negativly. Why is this hard to understand?

How is it not down time?

Same here. I ALWAYS ask people if there are any restrictions I should know about if I don't already know from eating elsewhere with them. Likewise I always ask parents about any snack restrictions if their kids are visiting. And vice cersa. I've been asked if dd has snack restrictions (she doesn't) and adults have asked if I have any restrictions (I don't). It's such an automatic protocol.

Most people find time with 3 and 5 year olds to be downtime?

I guess because I'm a hypervigilant parent.

"You think all my nanny does all day is 100% downtime?"

Nope. They're not her kids. Being with your own family, and finding that NOT to be down time, is likely rather nonstandard.

No one is saying all time with kids is downtime. That would be silly.

But time with kids CAN be downtime. Last night Ds and I made bikes and motorcycles out of his Kinex. it was fun, relaxing, non-pressured ... it was downtime.

I also worked with dd on cleaning up her room. Not downtime.

Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color.  Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense and choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.

That's not hypervigilant.

I don't find being with my children relaxing.

That word choice was a throwback to the other thread.

Hey, I've been meaning ask what you have against people strutting their toned bodies?
