What about eating issues?

We have debated sleeping issues to death once again....so what about another one of the issues of childhood....eating and/or not eating?
My kids eat just about anything and have a pretty well rounded diet.

No, your question was to QM. But since the question was about her assumptions about people who don't eat beef as non-beef-eating dinner guests, I answered.
It's a public forum.
No kidding. But the question wasn't remotely about how non-meat-eating people handle themselves at dinners. If you want to talk about that, well you go, but I don't know why you are saying you're "answering" something that no one asked you or anyone else for that matter.
I would expect that you'll feel more relaxed at home when your kids are older.
That isnt what I would call hypervigilant. Just kids who havent learned how to entertain themselves maybe?
I dont know, we sat on the back deck for a few hours today. I filled ds' kiddie pool and dd had some friends over for a waterfight. Despite the squealing and screaming and the *pop* of water balloons, I still consider it downtime. I sat in the lawn chair and read a magazine.

I agree with everything you said about the infancy/toddler years.
"Reading a book, exercising, chatting with a friend, planting flowers"
I have done all of those things while home with children.
What she said was "Also, being at home (even with the kids) is a good facsimile of 'alone' time for me." which I took to mean that even though she was not actually alone she could still get some alone time.
