What about eating issues?

We have debated sleeping issues to death once again....so what about another one of the issues of childhood....eating and/or not eating?

My kids eat just about anything and have a pretty well rounded diet.

I actually do exist outside my birth culture. Have friends and everything. Friends I actually do invite over for dinner.

Its about a little more than merely providing calories to a guest, thats why.

"Birth culture" actually has nothing at all to do with this topic. Tastes in food have been international in the US and elsewhere for quite some time now. Maybe even for you. If not, it's not too late to pick up a few pointers.

Is that similar to a Brazilian Grill? I went to a place called "Asado" in NM. It was very odd (but the food was good). There is a huge wall of a rotisserie grill with about 45 kinds of meat on it. There is no menu. The servers walk around with HUGE skewers of a meat choice and ask if you want some. You take whichever kind(s) you want. All you can eat.

there is a salad bar with hot and cold veggies and potatoes and sides. It's not visited often by the guests, lol.

Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color.  Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense and choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.

It's pretty easy to figure out what a lawyer in a corporate setting makes. Just do a quick Google search.

Private Jewish school right now is $8K. Then it goes up to $12K. By high school it is $21K.

Very similar. The Argentinian one is also called Asado in some parts. I've been to a Brazilian one before...like you said, huge skewers of meat that you sample. Our restaurant even had Carnaval dancers in thong outfits...eeek! We were not quite expecting that;)

The Argenitian Parrillada usually comes to your table. They place a sort of mini-grill at your table with all sorts of cuts of meats...the organ meats are especially popular. All this to be eaten with chimichurri sauce (each person receives a bowl)

Yea..sometimes they might give you some bread before you eat;)

And even if "birth culture" had any validity, in my Grampa's words, our family was "...kicked out of every decent country in Europe..."

LOL! And I'll bet everyone in your family still sets a decent table, even for those occasional pesky picky eaters, without fussing & fuming a whole lot about it.

Uh yes, I actually *do* know what these things are about. I did say I prepared the mushrooms as a vegan dish, and considering I have family members who have been vegan, not to mention I work in a restaurant that offers vegan meals, I think I have a pretty good grasp of it. You, on the other hand, I am not so sure about.

And there is a difference between accomodating a guests food restrictions and moving the leather furniture out of the house. I already said I would still prepare a meat dish, and I wouldnt tolerate the holier than thou attitude that many vegans seem to adopt. They will come to my home knowing that we are not vegans and do not strive to be.

No matter what, if YOU invite someone to YOUR home and you know they have certain food restrictions, you are not being a gracious hostess if you do not provide adequate food for them. Doesnt mean an elaborate vegan meal, or a meal with absolutely nothing in it that a particular person might be allergic to, etc. Doesnt mean catering to one person. It simply means being aware enough to make sure that *all* the guests in your home will leave happy and satisfied, without having to bring their own food to dinner.
