What about eating issues?

We have debated sleeping issues to death once again....so what about another one of the issues of childhood....eating and/or not eating?
My kids eat just about anything and have a pretty well rounded diet.

When I start thinking about what I've done with my free time, I feel even more certain that it was worth it.
Last winter, for instance, we took a week-long family vacation to a beach resort. DH could take the time because he is a long-term federal employee with a lot of accrued leave. I took leave without pay. But all four of us had a wonderful time.
The summer before, I was laid off for a while, so we took a week to visit my grandmother. We had the leisure time to take the train, which was an adventure in itself, and then had time for a good visit. How many kids get to have a relationship with their great-grandparents? IMO, this kind of experience is priceless.
Another summer, I was between jobs and we were between houses, and we ended up house-sitting all summer in the mountains, at 8000 ft. We hiked to a beaver pond every day and watched ducklings grow up. We saw moose from our deck. DD learned to identify wildflowers. This was much more valuable than the money I might have earned if I'd worked that summer.
Another summer, DH was unemployed, and we lived in a new region. DH spent the sumner taking the kids all over, discovering our new home.
Obviously, a balance is necessary. At some point, the need to earn money outweighs the desire for free time. But I'm with you on this--at this point, I am not willing to work longer hours for a higher SOL. I actually think my SOL would be lower, because my personal standard includes flexibility and leisure time.

Well, once again I will win Slacker Award.
Back when I actually entertained, I'd usually try some new nonfat or ultrahealthy recipe - and warn the guests.

Why on earth would you think that people who have described how to accomodate guests have never had them? That doesn't make any sense? I've described the ways I DO accomodate guests. And that means you disbelieve me...why?
Wait. I just figured it out. You disbelieve me and everybody else because the accomodations we are describing sound so difficult to you that you can't conceive we actually are able to do them and so must be lying. But here's the thing. These accomodations are EASY. It's not like we're claiming to be rocket scientists. We're merely claiming to be cooks who are not afraid (or unwilling, or huffy about) to try new things.
I'm 100% with you - though we haven't been able to work out that kind of situation for ourselves.

Are we boring you?
Actually PJM and I are the same person. Dogma and QM are the same person too. We are cellmates trying to make our stint in federal prison go a little faster...
Yes, good point. We all have our comfort zones. I am fortunate that I can work PT and stay well within mine. If I were falling below, then I would seriously look for ways to make more money.
I am not suggesting that PnJ or Savcal should adopt my SOL. I am guessing that my lack of up-to-date media equipment and my dial-up internet connection would be a hardship for Savcal, and my Target wardrobe wouldn't do for PnJ. But I'm sure I spend money on stuff they wouldn't want even if it were free.
On the other hand, I think they'd both appreciate my weekly box of organic, locally-grown produce. ;)
Can we mix and match? PNJ can have your dial-up connection and I'll take
Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color. Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense and choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.
