What are you doing this weekend?

Well, tomorrow morning, DH and I are getting up and cleaning everything out of our bedroom, including all furninture (bed is already out), so that we can clean the carpet in here. We got the rest of the house done today, but not our bedroom, which is probably the worst in the house.

After that, the kids and I are going to some friends of ours to cookout and hang out all day before we all go to a 4th of July thing at our local park. DH is going to the races with his dad and uncles.

Unfortunately, I'm working both Saturday and Sunday, but Saturday night we are going to visit my great-grandma, and Sunday night we are going to cookout at my dads house.

Nothing to "grand", but should be fun anyway. Well, except going to work. ;)

Tomorrow morning DH and I will spend the morning w/DS, probably out back in his wading pool since it's too d*mn hot to do anything else outside. After DS's nap, we're going to my parents' to grill and hang out, although we'll be home before the fireworks b/c of DS's bedtime. Saturday we're just going to chill, although I may see if DH wants to hit the links or the driving range and DS and I will go along for the ride. Sunday we'll go to the IL's lake place to water ski and cook out.

Just hanging out with our families...gotta love holidays! C

Hopefully, a good bit of nothing, much like I plan on spending Labor Day (and spent Memorial Day). My idea of a GREAT holiday weekend is being home, enjoying the house, the family, maybe cooking out on the grill, reading some....and going NOWHERE. I may watch 1776, which is a tradition for me.

We went to the local parade/carnival this morning, and in this evening we're going to a cousin's house for a swim party (assuming the torrential rain that started about 10 minutes ago has passed by then, lol)

Tomorrow I hope to take the girls on their second letterboxing excursion; if it goes well we might do another one on Sunday.

We're having a cookout at my BF/SO/Whatever You Want to Call Him's house this evening, and taking the kids to the county fairgrounds near his house to see fireworks. I'm excited...at almost 40, I'm spending my first holiday with a boyfriend! Honest! They've all (including my ex) found other things to do on holidays...which has been quite depressing. Yes, I'm socially retarded.

Tomorrow he's bringing the kids here to hang out and feed the ducks in the lake behind our house.

Sunday, I'll probably spend the day catching up on laundry and all the other stuff I'm not doing today & tomorrow.

Eeeeek!! I total forgot that it was the 4th of July! I feel like such a bad citizen these days:-(. Well I spent the 4th working, but supposedly on the 5th there is a gathering of American expats to hang out and celebrate the 4th. My nephew got really upset at me a couple years ago when he realised that the kids don't know anything about the 4th of July and I guess he has a point. It is time to start that saturday school in American history...

I just spent a couple of days last week cleaning the carpet in our former living room before turning it into my home office/craft/sewing/homeschool room. We added on to our house a few years back and put in a new family room and no one used the other living room much so I claimed it! lol The carpet was a lot dirtier than it looked. Yuck!

Anyway, our town has a fireworks celebration every year the weekend before the 4th so we did that already. Today we are all just staying home, did a cookout on the grill for lunch, and just relaxing. It is really hot and muggy so I'm staying indoors with the air conditioning and putting the finishing decorative touches on my new home office.

Have a fun time with with your family this weekend!

It's kind of like a treasure hunt, only the "treasure" is a box with a rubber stamp and a notebook. You leave your own imprint in the notebook, and stamp your own notebook with the stamp from the box as proof you found it. They're hidden all over the country; there's only about a dozen in our area so far, though. We might hide one ourselves before the summer is out.

You can go to www.letterboxing.org to read about it, and see if there are any in your area.

Really cool, thanks!! It seems like it exists in Europe too, so I just need to find out how to get information on Swedish sites. Sweden ought to be letterboxing heaven...there is an ancient law here that everyone has the right to go onto any piece of land public or private (even camp there) and make use of it as they need.
