This debate is occurring within unrelated threads. I thought it would be interesting to conduct this poll and open the debate to everyone. I would like to suggest the following ground rules for consideration:

Statements should be supported by personal experience and/or facts.

When making a universal comment such as, “Being a WOHP is better for ALL children”, you should support your statement with good facts/research.

Follow the terms of service

Stay on topic particularly if going off topic means debating a statement from someone’s personal experience. (For example, where someone’s husband is between the hours of 5PM and 6PM should not be part of the debate as it is not really relevant.) We want everyone to be comfortable sharing experiences right?

I’m not a control freak really! (:

As far as I know your response to the poll is anonymous. Results will be shown as the poll is being conducted.

>there is no best for every family. there are as many different bests as there are families.<

I'd go further and say that, even within each family, there are as many different bests as there are family members. Sometimes, one's best is set above the others within the family. Another time, it's another family member's turn. And so on.

It depends, and not just on the particular family, but on the ever-changing dynamics within individual families as well.

In general it does not matter, but it can matter in individual families. Also it is not a decision that has to be written in stone, it can change as life situations change.

ITA. I do not like using daycare for babies (my personal thing not a general statement). I was never comfortable with the idea. My first would have handled daycare great. She has the personality for it. My youngest would have been harmed by daycare. She had issues that did not get resolved (and we are still working on -mainly emotional) until she was 5. She was a very, very shy baby/toddler and had some tactile issues. Potty training didn't happen til she turned 5, etc. She is thriving now and a lot more outgoing and loves school. I do not think that would have happened unless I sah.

You are right. Every family and every individual in the family is different.
