What do SAHMs do all day?

It was a question such as this that prompted  the male author to write the following article in the Huffington post.  He is tired of working moms of putting down his wife because she is SAH:

Look, I don't cast aspersions on women who work outside of the home. I understand that many of them are forced into it because they are single mothers, or because one income simply isn't enough to meet the financial needs of their family. Or they just choose to work because that's what they want to do. Fine. I also understand that most "professional" women aren't rude, pompous and smug, like the two I met recently.

But I don't want to sing Kumbaya right now. I want to kick our backwards, materialistic society in the shins and say, "GET YOUR FREAKING HEAD ON STRAIGHT, SOCIETY."

This conversation shouldn't be necessary. I shouldn't need to explain why it's insane for anyone -- particularly other women -- to have such contempt and hostility for "stay at home" mothers. Are we really so shallow? Are we really so confused? Are we really the first culture in the history of mankind to fail to grasp the glory and seriousness of motherhood? The pagans deified Maternity and turned it into a goddess. We've gone the other direction; we treat it like a disease or an obstacle.

I also found the last couple of paragraphs interesting, he was talking about how it doesn't matter who is busier and why we try to keep score.
Any thoughts on the article?

Lol thardy, moms in their jodpurs!  DD1 has never owned a horse but knows ten times+ more than me always b/c of all the training she's had/is getting.  One of the trainers at the stables she rides also oaches the equestrian team at an area college, She's a sweet girl and doesn't even own her own but teaches.  Maybe that's the extent she'l go?  Hey, at least she's happy! </p>

That's exciting.  She can teach and always be around horses.  There are just some girls who love that kind of thing, lol!  My best friend growing up did that, and eventually bought a "part share" of a horse, stabled it nearby, shared duties with feeding, stall clean-up.  Her parents were not going to buy her her own horse outright.  She personally *needed* to be around horses, which I grew to understand.

That's the impression I was getting, so I'm glad I'm not alone!  Heck, if you and I could go into "work" and get our employer/the taxpayer/ the encumbered college student, pay for all of our time online, why not!  ;)   It's always funny how these iVillage boards come to a screeching halt on weekends!

"D'oh, There's no nobility in having no "television" when you spend a whole lot of time on message boards. " Why would you even bring up the idea of "nobility" connected to whether one has television service or not? What had "nobility" got to do with it? That seems like a silly connection to make.

For me, that's been the tone of your anti-t.v. posts over the years here.  Not so in the tone of Savcal or the others who don't have more than 1 television.  At least 2 of us noticed it, it's not that big of a deal.  We get the whole free internet usage at work thing.

No, really, Thardy, you are right. It isn't that big of a deal. I happen not to like to watch television. That's certainly not a preference worth other people keeping track of over the years, I agree.

That must have been a quiet bus ride?  Lots of kids reading, studying for their next test, lol!  You're a good momma.  How was it?

Not really, this was for my 5th grader. We had a really great time. Lots of pics taken for their yearbook Laughing
