Ok, I'll admit this career change hasn't gone as well as hoped.

I don't understand why anyone would ever stay in a low paying job they didn't like than go to (or look for) a higher paying job that they like either the same or more.

I missed a lot of info from the beginning, but do you have another job lined up, or can you live off your husband's salary for now while you wait and look for another position?

I would not quit until I had another position/contract somewhere else lined up, but you can still work as you're checking the classifieds every month.

So you didn't know you wouldn't be getting yearly raises when you took this job, but you did know there were no raises beyond 2% at the 1st (other) job(s)?

From your August post explaining how you turned down a better-paying job. Travsmom quoted it above and I posted the link. You certainly implied that it was a district. In any case, you had a better-paying job. You chose this one anyway.

Your post certainly made it appear as if it were a job in your public school district.

still didn't answer the question, but that's okay. If we'd had to we would have continued with me as a single mom.

I'm still curious as to what your dd's would have had to (or have given) up as a result of this job. Also, is your dh in a position that the money that he makes (you know, that FAMILY money) could pay for those things?

I was fortunate in my remarriage that it has allowed us to offer music lessons to the kids and to keep our yearly summer vacation.

Because then they couldn't do what they just did.

I'm aware of that but there is a HUGE difference between making less than a livable wage and not getting raises and making a livable wage and not getting raises.

Guess you should have kept the district job you had, then.
