Nope. The regular unsweetened applesauce has apples, water, and citric acid. The same ingredients that the baby jarred applesauce has in it but at a significance savings. I'm going grocery shopping in a little bit so I'll double check.
LOL! It certainly IS cheaper, and it used to drive me nuts that in my town they handed out flyers to poor Mexican women telling them how they could get free or low cost formula for their babies. However, in my experience at least, this is rarely the main reason why women choose to breast feed, although they may advance the point as another point in favor of breast feeding.
I sometimes used to buy natural applesauce for the kids' packed lunches. It was no added sugar, no added salt, only apples and water. The only thing I like about jarred baby food is the jars. I used to get them from friends and use them in my craft/sewing room to hold small things such as buttons or snaps.
Yes, I breastfed because I knew it was better for the babies, but there were other benefits. I felt better about it financially and ecologically after awhile. It was also terribly convenient -- no bottles to wash, sterilize, store, etc. No waiting for anything to be at the right temperature.
