Yes, that is true. My point is that the people you know seem to be not average on a number of levels and yet you are constantly surprised that the people in the wider world are just not like the people you know!
Because if you give them free coupons for formula and they use formula instead of breastmilk, and then you stop giving them free coupons for formula, they often cannot afford it and will water it down and their babies do not get proper nutrition. And in the first place, breastmilk is perfect food for babies and formula is imperfect, so the idea of luring poor people into buying an inferior product they can barely afford is kind of reprehensible to a lot of people.
It might have made more sense to inform them about breast feeding. That way they would be able to feed their children without having to rely on hand-outs. A few years later, there was actually a switch to a campaign that promoted breast feeding.
Have you ever compared labels? It depends on the brand, but regular unsweetened applesauce and baby applesauce are exactly the same-- except the baby applesauce is pureed slightly finer and is a gazillion times more expensive.
Again, I don't want to get into the debate, but I do see what you are saying but if they continue with the help, I don't see why they wouldn't use it until milk could be fed.
Some women can't breastfeed or just simply do not want to. I don't think they should have been forced to do so, but I also don't think you should have children unless you can afford to feed them. But that is a whole different debate-lol!!
Most of the single food baby foods (i.e. green beans or peaches instead of mac and cheese or chicken dinner) don't have any additives (salt, sugar, preservatives) now.

No, the same amount of women I know who have breastfeed did it for financial reasons as well as others but the financial was one of the main reasons.
Like I said, I am not going to get into that debate as I have my own beliefs. Thanks :)
