What have you "given up" in order to have and parent children?

Because of the lack of teeth, our kids were mostly vegetarians until they were 3. That's when they got enough molars to chew meat. It did surprise me that there were kids still on baby food at a year old simply because that wasn't my experience or, with one exception, the experience of people that I knew well enough to know how they fed their rugrats. The one exception didn't feed any solids until her kids were a year old and exclusively breastfed them for the first year. But then that whole family had food allergies, especially the dad. And the ped. was cautious with food as a precaution.

Did I SAY my child did these things, no. Not every child is as active as you are stating but if they are doing this on a regular basis, wouldn't their body get used to the physical activity and not be as tired as much as they might be in the beginning?

So, if you normally go to bed at 10pm and deviate some days to midnight or 1am, you don't eventually get tired from changing your body's schedule?

If you get home in the early evening, why would they stay up until 10pm?

I am speaking of the many families I have known to do these throughout the years AND my dh who has let me know how he was raised.

I guess I didn't fly that soon after 9/11 because I'm not understanding why one couldn't have access to snacks, weren't they in the seat pocket in front of you or in a bag under the seat in front of you?

What does working 40+ hours a week have to do with any of this?

I love those kinds of traditions. Dh's mom bought and gave the bag to Joy. I've mended it several times and it's still going strong.
