What have you "given up" in order to have and parent children?

So, he just started this-then I understand as his body is getting used to it.

I don't nap. I would rather go to bed earlier and get more sleep at night then to miss out on my day off by doing something during the day.

Well I do see my dh, his siblings, family and co-workers whose parents were not strict.

Would you do that now, even if you didn't have kids?

Can you please explain what "maintaining relationships" mean. Thanks :)

No, our food was not accessible from a seated position.

To take your childrens' friends for several days means more than a weekend, which means vacation or holiday time would necessarily be involved for FT WOHPs.

I'm not getting what the 40+ hour work week has to do with anything. You have two kids, or in our case three kids, a family you know wants to get out of town a few days, you now have four kids or five kids for a few days. Besides some extra laundry and having to set the table for an extra person or two for a few days, what's the big deal? I am talking beyond preschool age here, watching another family' school age kids?

We had a couple extra kids the first week in May -- the family went off to Colorado to see the oldest graduate from college, and two of the middle kids (out of five) stayed with us for three nights because it was finals week at the high school and they couldn't go. Not a big deal.
