What have you "given up" in order to have and parent children?

"Having kids doesn't mean having to take them everywhere and not to mention kids are also only young for a short time."

True, but the $200 a day kennel fee is mighty expensive. ;) It makes the whole trip that much more expensive. We are 11 years in and we still can't leave them alone for the night- It sure doesn't feel like a "short" time.

I think young would mean something different to you than me....but then again, my oldest was 3 months old the first time he flew and only 10 months old when he traveled out of the US.

I rarely see kids in Vegas anymore, though that was not the case 5-10 years ago. Vegas has pretty much given up marketing itself as family friendly, at least at the higher end strip hotels. Gambling, great restaurants, spas, Broadway type shows are all aimed at adults. Food and hotel rooms are no longer cheap, either.

I have no desire to go to Vegas at all, unfortunately, business takes me there 4 or 5 times a year. I've never taken the kids, though DH will join me occasionally.

I think it's fun to travel with my children....they always look at things so differently than adults.

That doesn't make it harder....in fact, I miss the days when we had more stuff, especially the stroller...not only did it carry the kid, but our jackets, drinks and etc...now we have to carry that stuff, lol.

My view is coming from a parent with children who didn't require or need rigid sleeping and/or eating schedules...which of course can make a difference.

I have never felt the urge to go to Vegas. Although when DH was there earlier this year for NAB he stayed at the Venetian and said the suite was really really nice. I was tempted, but not enough to pay for the airfare and the daycare cost.

Going out to dance, going out to have a drink, going to the movies for a few things. We would do these things either planned or on a whim and at anytime of the day.
