What kind of errands....

Do you run on a daily basis? Weekly basis? Monthly basis?

I've often heard people say that they need a lot of time during the week to run errands and that those errands would otherwise take up their evenings and weekends if they had to WOH ft. It made me curious because I just don't seem to have many errands to run at all. Are we just lazy :-)?

If you're going to go by the criteria of "it's quite possible to find a bunch of people out of the eight million people living in this metropolitan area that share characteristic X, so therefore I'm going to say it's common," why, yes. If you're going to go by the characteristic people generally employ - how often it occurs in relation to the population - it's not.

Edited to add that neither you nor biancamami did one thing to demonstrate that it's anything less than uncommon on the isle of Manhattan.

IME, a school would much rather make 2 or 3 phone calls rather than have a sick child wait in the nurse's office for 2 or 3 hours.

Late twenties to early thirties, actually, is where common ends.

Well, as I have said, we were approached by a coach of a competitive team a few weeks back and asked if our son had any interest in being on his team, because he was looking for a good shortstop, and he'd watched my son for a few games and thought he had the makings of one. I thought the kid would be delighted, but upon talking with the coach and finding out that he'd be playing one position rather than getting to play all the positions over the course of the season, he said he'd rather keep playing recreational. Tell the truth, I was kind of surprised.

Recreational baseball goes on through adulthood here in this town, which is good. If he decides in the next year or two he wants to play competitively, I think he still can. If not, if he wants to play recreationally, he still can. If he decides that baseball isn't any fun anymore and wants to try soccer or football in the future, that's OK, too.

Reread what I've already posted. If you still don't get it, I can't help you.

Encouragement to tryout is not an invite to a spot on a team.

Lots of things are unappealling in rec leagues becuase of the way rec teams function.

They'd rather get in touch with a parent and let the parent handle the handoff.

Same point so many have made: winning isn't everything.
