What kind of errands....

Do you run on a daily basis? Weekly basis? Monthly basis?

I've often heard people say that they need a lot of time during the week to run errands and that those errands would otherwise take up their evenings and weekends if they had to WOH ft. It made me curious because I just don't seem to have many errands to run at all. Are we just lazy :-)?

According to the National Center for Health Statistics, in 2001 (the last year I could find data for) about 14% of births were to women over 35. That's not exactly uncommon, and hardly qualifies anyone giving birth after age 35 as "the odd man out".

I have alot of errands I have to run typically. Some of them I do after work, but most I do on my days off. Today I had to go to the courthouse, the antique store, the thrift store, and wal-mart to pick up a 'script. Tomorrow I have to go to the bank for quarters and to deposit a check, swing by work and pick up the tips that were left for me after I left work monday, go to the post office, take some things I painted to a gallery to show the buyer, and go do laundry. Then after my daughter gets home from school I'm going to look through some old records this person has for sale at their house. The rrands I run during the week are usally getting bills paid, going to the bank and sometimes the post office. Plus there's also grocery shopping.

"You don't have an air conditioner or a heater?"

I don't. I don't have an AC (though I may break down and get one next summer) and the only heat in the building comes from a huge old boiler in the basement. We don't even have temperature controls in the units. My building was built in the forties.

What's the reason for your objection here? Why not go as soon as the nurse calls?

It is a question of trust. I have complete trust in my emergency contact and she does in me. Are you saying, if you can't find someone you'd trust, that it's better not to put anybody down on the form as your emergency contact?

In this scenario, is the school unable to reach you or your DH? Because in that case, it is possible the school would make better efforts to contact you or DH. Or, worse perhaps, emergency decisions would be in the hands of someone you might not trust - the school nurse.

I'm really trying to understand your position here.

What makes you think I wouldn't?

My "pal?" I'm not talking about anyone's post but yours, "pal."

No, I really don't, which is why I asked. Do you have a problem with that?

How far did you go with track and cross country? Did you set any records for the school? Do you still run?

You know I double-checked on the internet because I could've sworn we were Division III. It was so many years ago. I played softball. Contrary to QM's theories, I just enjoyed the camraderie, a week of "spring training" in Florida, and being on a team. I'll admit I was mostly a bench warmer but loved being part of a team. My only regret is that I probably should have tried out for the women's basketball team. I think then I would have played. But by sophomore year I felt it was too late to try out.

Of course I have people I trust on the form. They're not people chosen with their proximity to the school in mind.
