What kind of errands....

Do you run on a daily basis? Weekly basis? Monthly basis?

I've often heard people say that they need a lot of time during the week to run errands and that those errands would otherwise take up their evenings and weekends if they had to WOH ft. It made me curious because I just don't seem to have many errands to run at all. Are we just lazy :-)?

Children are not causing me to do a single solitary thing as far as the cost of their sports go. Its my lifestyle philosophy that is doing that and my own personal ideas of where to spend money in persuit of fun. The same philosophy I had pre kids. You really need to figure out what I'm saying here and see how it applies to your own life. You know I'm sorry you couldn't fit into the apartment you had before you had kids. We could and did for 4 whole years. Oh there is a guy around her with triplets. They were over a year before he realized a single baby, let alone three simultaneous ones were supposed to force him to buy a minivan. At which point he traded in the honda civic. Yes you read that right. Triplets and their car seats fit in a honda civic. So far he's still in the apartment. I better go let him know how impossible his situation is and how much more he really needs to be forced to spend by those babies. Oh to make this even more interesting - if we didn't have kids I'm seriously doubting I'd still be living where I was pre kids. My housing costs are very unlikely to have ended up less expensive than they are now. Truth be told - they stand a very good chance of theoretically being more expensive. Now I don't know that I'd have headed for the burbs but you know what - my street does house a few kidless couples. So I'm not sure whose kids are forcing them to live there in those houses that cost more than apartments - but somebodies for sure. You really do have your cause and effects mixed all up. Are you really that averse to assuming responsibility for your own decisions?

Were you trying on purpose to bowl a 10? I guess there are a few people in the world who try to do crappy on purpose because that's the way that they have the most fun, but I wouldn't want them on my team. Personally, I get annoyed with people who want to 'play' tennis with me and don't care if they return a serve or hit the ball over the fence. When I play a game, I like to play, actually engage in the game, not run around purposefully doing crappy.

And it's not that I want to 'win', I

It simply indicates that not everyone is able to derive enjoyment from team sports. And provides a real good example of some of the very real downsides faced by rec teamsport leagues. Mostly I attribute the problem in ability to parents rather than kids, although after a few years of suitable parental direction, the issue becomes the kids' own

The joy of playing is directly related to the goal of winning.

As much as I hate to lose ;-), I see your point.

Yes, thank you. That exactly supports what I said about it not mattering who brought it up.

When I was in 4th-5th grades, I was on the world's worst soccer team and it seemed like it was mostly my fault because I was the goalie. It was no fun to lose game after game after game. We (as a team) wanted to do well. Maybe win a couple.

In highschool, I played volleyball and we were good. Not the state champions, but we made the playoffs. That was a LOT more fun (imo) than being on a constantly losing team.

As an adult, I can play anything and lose and not really care. But, I go into it wanting to win. Like I said to TM, I don't like to play anything with anyone who doesn't care about the outcome. How fun is it to play, say, Trivial Pursuit, with a person who answers every question with, "Oh, I don't know, melons?" Becomes a stupid waste of time and pointless. I see sports in the same way. Some people are like me in that way and the rest are the ones who are trying to drink a beer and play volley ball at the same time.

Point already made. No need to be redundant.
