What kind of errands....

Do you run on a daily basis? Weekly basis? Monthly basis?

I've often heard people say that they need a lot of time during the week to run errands and that those errands would otherwise take up their evenings and weekends if they had to WOH ft. It made me curious because I just don't seem to have many errands to run at all. Are we just lazy :-)?

Paying attention in public is of course much more stressful than paying attention in one's own home.

it sounds pretty active to me.

One of my kids had a horrible adjustment to full day kindergarten. It wasn't being tired, it was being indoors all day. But I was really glad that he was only doing one new thing at a time at that point. He was already in a couple of activities, I think just horseback riding, but we didn't add anything else until his stress level calmed down. I don't think you're doing anything wrong with Petey. I am not even sure that having more organized activities would make a difference. Sometimes it's just having to pay sustained attention to tasks for six hours that is hard -- not a lot of 6 y/o's are in outside activities where they practice that particular skill.

I did think of ways, and suggested as much.

You're not getting "overt hostility" toward your "lifestyle choices" from me. Moreover I already agreed with you that Peter is almost certain to need time not to be quite tired out by school.

I am not and don't think I have ever been hostile to your choices. I have been hostile to the idea that your circumstances lock you into choices that you yourself sometimes express dissatisfaction with.

I meant without sacrificing life "in the sticks."

I think it's likely that you fail to realize that like most anything, living "in the sticks" has distinct advantages for kids as well as disadvantages.

I do realize that. But if the kids can't do the activities they choose to do because they live too far from them, that's a definite negative to the sticks.

We expect the kids to be much better behaved in public than at home.
