What kind of errands....

Do you run on a daily basis? Weekly basis? Monthly basis?

I've often heard people say that they need a lot of time during the week to run errands and that those errands would otherwise take up their evenings and weekends if they had to WOH ft. It made me curious because I just don't seem to have many errands to run at all. Are we just lazy :-)?

But are PNJ's kids really any less active than other kids just because they don't participate in a great many organized activities? Most kids are perfectly capable of expending a great deal of energy and being very active without playing soccer, going skiing, swimming, or doing martial arts. They just play, with or without their parents.

Not only that, but why should we assume there's any relationship between how energetic kids are and how quickly they get tired or how long they can last at school? Some kids go strong all day and don't get tired, some go strong and then get tired, some kids are more low-key and sedentary and don't lose energy, and some low-key kids get tired early.

This discussion about PNJ's kids, kids' activities, flagging energy levels, and so on, seems confused to me.

She gave a reason. You were the one who re-worded that as "excuse". An excuse is only needed for something that somebody SHOULD have done but doidn't. There is no reason why PNJ should have an active family lifestyle that she needs to be excused out of. Some people do. Some people don't. But the people who do are not better and the people who don't are in no need of an excuse to explain why they don't.

Maybe those who tire more easily learn to make the most of their waking hours and become more productive than those who always have energy to burn.

SM, it's not "confused."

She was asked why she didn't have more miles on her car due to oil changes or something another....she first said she didn't go places because she had kids.

The issue is not and never has been whether PNJ's family life "should" be more active. The issue is that PNJ often complains (vents, whatever) that she is stuck being less active or less mobile or less something because of her children. And many of us do not believe that the mere presence of small children in one's life is the reason for her being less active, less mobile, less whatever it is she seems to want to be. She CHOOSES to be less active, less mobile, less whatever and blames it on the kids.

The social situation varies radically depending on which suburb of the Boston area you are in (sabinamarriane and I both live near Boston). I can't speak for NYC, but neither can you. Biancamami can because that's where she lives, so I assume that she knows far more about commute situations there than you do. She also knows more about it than I do, but I'm willing to admit that.

Oh, I know. Olympics time. We can at least try to keep it logical, though.

This applies to your area and many others. The fact that it applies to many others does not mean that it applies to ALL others. You are too much in love with generalizations.

That's precisely what we're trying to do. Keep it logical. It hasn't been. Has nothing to do with "Mommy Olympics." In fact, quite the reverse.
