What kind of errands....

Do you run on a daily basis? Weekly basis? Monthly basis?

I've often heard people say that they need a lot of time during the week to run errands and that those errands would otherwise take up their evenings and weekends if they had to WOH ft. It made me curious because I just don't seem to have many errands to run at all. Are we just lazy :-)?

One of my brothers was on every team imaginable and the other wasn't interested.

When your father says to you that he no longer wishes to spend any holiday, major or minor, with you and his only grandchildren, what does that say to you about independence and interdependence?

Um, no, I already gave my definition of what constituted a "problem," and it certainly didn't imply something of hurricane magnitude.

You don't realize she's just trying to get me to give something from my own life?

Why do you say that?

They were allowed to develop those things. What exactly is not your parenting style - allowing children to develop useful perspectives, strategies and confidence?

Your children may be a little shocked I guess, when they find out they are required to stick with school?

My kids, dare I admit it, are pretty average kids. They both play sports, and have developed some competence, but they aren't standouts and never will be. They both love playing the games in the rec league, making friends easily, developing skills, etc. DS#1 went on a competitive basketball team two years ago and likes it, but says the rec teams are more fun because you get to play every position. Both play the piano, neither is super at it. DS#1 tried out to be the pianist in his junior high jazz band and didn't make it, but the teacher suggested he study percussion and be the backup pianist and he is having a blast learning the drums and playing a piano piece every now and again. They're both nice, happy kids, not afraid to try new things, accepting of everyone, and socially successful to the extent that I can measure -- they get invited to all the parties, are big on the kid sleepover scene and most of the time the phone rings, it's not for me. They don't talk about sports alot but they never seem to run out of stuff to talk about.

Could you kindly point out where I ever said that plans do away with all problems?

Getting more sleep does not do alot to help children (or anyone really) who are stress tired. Given that you now have teenagers, no there is not much you can do about it. If they tire more easily than the average teen, there may well have been something you could have done about it at one point.
