what made you decide to do what you do?

In the interest of changing the subject back to something that is actually relevant to a SAH/WOH debate (LOL!), I will pose a question to anyone who wants to answer:

Who or what would you say was the greatest influence on your decision to SAH or WOH, whichever one you do (or want to do, if you aren't doing what you want)? Did any particular person, circumstance, situation, or anything else lead you to decide this question one way or the other?

What if two different influences conflicted? How did you make the decision then?

Hello?!?! Obviously you never read, because two things that reading really improves is spelling and vocabulary. And overall knowledge. Just because there are a lot of crap books out there doesn't mean people allow their children to read them... Just like I hope you/others don't allow their kids to play, lets say, Grand Theft Auto Vice City...

You say ......."Oh, I think books are generally way over rated for their intellectual value. Lots of garbage available there. Probaly tons more than is avail on electronic game media. In fact, most of the adult avid readers I know are also avid computer gamers. People who like to sit, like to sit. The thing is, while they are gaming, they have to think enough to provide the story and determine what happens next. While they are reading...simply sponging off someone elses imagination. Being able to read - the tool - indispensible. Reading - the hobby - vastly overrated."

Give me a break!

I agree completely. If you can't keep a figure after having kids it's just an excuse not to keep it. After having ds, I kept about 20 lbs over my normal weight for a year while I was nursing (nursing caused a huge appetite, as to be expected) but I dropped it very quickly once I stopped.

Well now your posts are just becoming idiotic. I said that one can not always help from getting physically ill when one is pregnant. You do realize that no one is taking anything you say seriously any more, dont you?

*EXACTLY* where did she say..... that she was (as you say) "PUKKING (sic) TO AVOID OBSESITY - RATHER THAN GOING TO THE EXTREME OF TRYING TO HAVE AN ACTIVE LIFESTYLE."

Because that is not what I got from her post at all.

Omg thats hilarious. As someone who just finished her 3rd book in as many days (yes, full length novels) and also just came back from a bike ride with the kids (oh and we cant forget my run this morning!) I find it quite laughable that you equate someone who is well-read as *liking to sit*. And I dont do computer games OR nintendo either, lol. We dont even own a gameboy.

Oh YES, it does makes you even!!!! How would DJ know that this was the first year of hockey for your kids??

Oh, I know!! She assumed.

Kind of like how you assume things about others and their family's lifestyle and how all kids should be pursuing the same thing. So I would say that definitely makes you even!

I think basically as long as you get in your alotted sporting moments in and make sure those are the priority, THEN you can go camping with your camper.

But, Do Not under any circumstances, plan a camping trip without doing the approriate and sanctioned organized sporting events first! :)

But, see, you are not right. Because she never said that was how she maintained her weight during pregnancy. You are just trying to give it that extra *spin*. So this is hardly debatable. Because you are just making things up as you go along. That doesn't make you right. It makes you a storyteller.

Well that's too bad for your kids that you don't encourage downtime as important part of their day. Because being able to be by yourself; explore your creativity on your own; and know that you don't have to be entertained and stimulated all the time is just as important as the social active part of childhood.

I think plenty of folks would say downtime created many an opportunity. Let's look at all the scientific discoveries that were made because some people weren't having to be social, active and athletic 100% of the day.

Again I believe in balance.
