what made you decide to do what you do?

In the interest of changing the subject back to something that is actually relevant to a SAH/WOH debate (LOL!), I will pose a question to anyone who wants to answer:

Who or what would you say was the greatest influence on your decision to SAH or WOH, whichever one you do (or want to do, if you aren't doing what you want)? Did any particular person, circumstance, situation, or anything else lead you to decide this question one way or the other?

What if two different influences conflicted? How did you make the decision then?

You mean she was "leaning" on a stroller the whole time? How lazy. ;)
Congratulations! I'm so happy to hear it. I just heard the good news and popped back over, just in case you were still checking in.

I'll have to deal with that when the time comes. To me, there's a difference between being involved in a different activity EVERY DAY after a day of school and excelling at a sport and advancing to the competetive stage. I was good at soccer when I was younger. I played AYSO, was on the all-star teams and played intramural (sp?) as well. My parents had to travel with me on weekends to play in different cities. However, the days I didn't have soccer, I wasn't shuffled off to do another activity.

In our family, we'll take into consideration how each kid's activity will affect the entire family. I have to admit, just the thought of getting my kid up at 4am to practice hockey (the only time they can get on the ice) turns my stomach. Although DS may enjoy it, it wouldn't be good for DH and I OR his little brother, who would have to be carted along.

Is there still a difference when that particular sport or activity takes up more time than combined activities. My daughter goes to gymnastics M,Tu,Th,Fr from 4-8 and Sat from 8-11. I still have to drive her although I don't stay. Add to the mix 3 other children, and I am pretty busy.

I also think that the dynamics of family time changes as the kids get older. More and more the kids want to play with their friends (that is another of my shuttling duties LOL). Therefore, I don't often have all 4 children home at the same time anyway. We do mostly eat dinner together (minus the gymnast daughter) and we have Sunday night dinner. But on any given evening or weekend, my kids could be anywhere. I am pleased, however, that when they are all home, they do tend to play well together despite their ages (6, 8, 10, 12) even if we do have the inevitable fighting once in a while.

I tell ya, my *nursing boobs* cured me of EVER wanting large breasts, lol! I went from a 34b to a 34DD. It not only looked bizarre (I seriously looked like someone from a porn movie), it was TOTALLY uncomfortable. None of my shirts fit right, I felt like I had 2 huge water balloons attached to me, ugh!

Of course, now I have 2 *deflated* balloons attached to me. Not sure which is worse, lol....

I didn't know that... It's only people in the Philly area of NJ... and it irritates the heck out of me!!! I'd take the NY influenced speech any day.

That's funny because ever since living in south Jersey, I can't stand the New York accents anymore when I visit my inlaws. Things like chawklate and cawfee. My kids accents are pretty neutral. They haven't picked up the real south Jersey twang but I prefer it to the north Jersey nasal LOL.

Hey, at least you were used to them! I was shocked, to go from a SMALL A cup to a D cup.. I just about died. And boy did I miss them when they left!

I'd prefer not to be a shuttle bus, but who knows what's in store for me? You can't very well say that she can't practice as much as she needs to, right? But you CAN say no to a different activity every night. So maybe there is a difference to me.

The swimming lessons and karate lessons I've looked into for Griffin are during working hours. (Karate is at 3:30pm on Wednesdays and Saturday mornings, though.) Swimming is during the day--one on a day I work, the other not. I think they'll offer later classes when he's older.

I don't think my kids will be playing with their friends at dinner time. It's so scheduled these days with play "dates" and such. My kids can't just run next door to play, or even down the street for that matter. It's so different now. We had 27 kids on my block when I was little. We ran the streets ALL DAY LONG without our parents "watching" us do it. I wish my kids could have that....

LOL, I totally agree! I'm normally a 34B and now while nursing I'm a 36C. Not that much bigger, but big enough that I just don't like the way I look up top! I prefer being petite up there - the bizarre thing is I NEVER thought I would have droopy boobs since they are so small when I'm not nursing. But, well, they are!

I'm looking forward to getting my normal boobs back in a few months even if dh is enjoying my cleavage!
