what made you decide to do what you do?

In the interest of changing the subject back to something that is actually relevant to a SAH/WOH debate (LOL!), I will pose a question to anyone who wants to answer:

Who or what would you say was the greatest influence on your decision to SAH or WOH, whichever one you do (or want to do, if you aren't doing what you want)? Did any particular person, circumstance, situation, or anything else lead you to decide this question one way or the other?

What if two different influences conflicted? How did you make the decision then?

Where in central Jersey did you grow up? I've been here all my life.

Yes, I think the South Jersey accent is very different. I can hear it immediately when talking to someone from that area.

Actually, most people lose weight while nursing because of the extra calorie loss in breast feeding. People gain weight because they eat thinking that they can eat *much* more because they're nursing.

I'm not saying that *you're* eating and eating but biologically, most people who nurse have an easier time losing their pregnancy weight without cutting their food intake.

True, but not. People lose most of their weight quickly while nursing, because of the calories it takes to create milk, however, one's appetite increases heavily while nursing, to satisfy that calorie need, so the last 10 to 20 lbs or so usually stick around until nursing is finished.

The bottom line is, whether nursing or not, the way to lose weight is to spend more calories than eat.

My older son loves team sports, baseball in particular. He's plays soccer as well. He's a pretty active kid. My younger son is not enamoured of team sports and is more sedentary even though we push him to get outside and play and he's playing LL this spring. My boys watch TV and play video games, and I have to admit that this past winter it was difficult sticking to limits. But with the nicer weather, they're outside playing ball, shooting hoops, having running races and riding their bikes. And they'll be swimming a lot when the weather gets warmer (if it EVER gets warmer! LOL!) I don't believe that all activity needs to be structured. I believe in downtime so they can do activities as they choose.

No need to sympathize....After i do my 5-6 am posting, i don't normally check the board and/or post until i get off work either....and yes, there are usually over 200 posts by then. I do the best i can, but just can not keep up with the volume generated on this board (at least not as well as i would like to).

WELL, EXXCCUUUUUSSSE me! Actually, I HAVE read what i am RESPONDING too -- because THAT's what i'm responding too.

kinda hard to respond to a post if i haven't read the actual post, isn't it???

What I tend to miss is the CONTEXT of 657 posts and all the permutations that have come as the discussions have evolved. I do the best i can and post in good faith. I usually try to read several posts surrounding one i want to respond to just to get a feel for the context.

I'm sorry that doesn't meet with your satisfaction, but i just don't have HOURS and HOURS to be here each and every day. I clock my one hour in the morning, about 1/2 hour in the afternoon while the kids are outside playing and 1-2 hours every other evening per week. And i will comment on anything i feel like posting on.

Thanks for the suggestion (NOT), but it truly is not needed.

When our kids were little, our favorite game was "chicken feet". It's a domino game with special color-coded dominos that go up to 12 spots. Playing was one of our favorite "conversation" times. (No point here, just a bit of a reverie)
