what made you decide to do what you do?

In the interest of changing the subject back to something that is actually relevant to a SAH/WOH debate (LOL!), I will pose a question to anyone who wants to answer:

Who or what would you say was the greatest influence on your decision to SAH or WOH, whichever one you do (or want to do, if you aren't doing what you want)? Did any particular person, circumstance, situation, or anything else lead you to decide this question one way or the other?

What if two different influences conflicted? How did you make the decision then?

i grew up in central jersey and moved to nc when i got married. i could not understand the southerners at all and wanted to tell them to "knock it off" with the drawl, and now when i go back to nj, i want to tell *them* to knock it off. i really hear my sister's and her dh's nj accents.

to go further with this, all of my children were born here in nc, and everyone here asks them where they're from because they do not sound southern at all. its really funny.

Sorry but I have to jump in here. You're right, Opinion has called several people liars, me included, even though she now denies it. She didn't exactly say "You are a liar", but on another thread, every FACT that I posted, she insisted was false, and gave her reasons why I couldn't possibly be telling the truth. For instance, when I said I substitute taught 5 days a week in my kids school, she went on for about 20 posts telling me how that couldn't possibly be true, and that I was making it up. This was true of about every statement that I made. She said I was making up stories, embelishing, etc, etc. In essence, calling me a liar. She said I couldn't live in the house that I live in, I couldn't afford my lifestyle, yadda, yadda, yadda, that everything I said couldn't be true.

She does this frequently, so I'm also a little puzzled as to why someone might defend her.

ACK, my big dramatic High School boyfriend first-love type guy lived in Piscataway, although it was practically New Brunswick, over by Rutgers. Small world!

Yes, you're allowed to criticize whatever you want. But when you criticize a post that you either haven't read or haven't bothered to understand and then get called on it, other posters are *allowed* to criticize that. And when you get hypocritically hot under the collar, other posters are *allowed* to criticize that.
Congratulations! I'm so happy to hear it. I just heard the good news and popped back over, just in case you were still checking in.

Thank you for jumping in, I appreciate your thoughtfulness.

Here are two quotes Opinion said directly to me. Now tell me who is calling who a liar because it isn't me in this thread.

From Opinion: I think you made this all up. Not only does it NOT work out the way you'd like to pretend...it CAN'T.

From Opinion: The difference between my world and yours, is mine actually exists.

Those are the two that stand out to me. She didn't come out straight and say "liar" but I think overall when you read these in reply to my post would be that is what she was going for.

The thing I don't think Opinion sees is just because our (general our, not mine specifically, but included) lives are so vastly different and there are really no similiarities that doesn't mean they are false, they are untrue. I firmly believe she is who she says she is and is living the way she says she lives and believes the way she believes for real. Why would I doubt her as she doubts others? Puzzling.

It doesn't matter. It is just a debate board for entertainment & change of pace. But FWIW ITA w/you. And again, thanks!
