What might cause you to change status?

What events or circumstances might cause you to go from SAH to WAH or WOH, or any other change in work status?
Have a great weekend, everyone!

"I would return to work, for the right job, the right price, and the right schedule.
My DH said he'd be willing to be a SAHD in 15 years, hmmm our youngest will be 18 then. LOL

In my case, my current work situation is completely tied to dh. In the event of divorce or his death, I would have to get a "real" job of some kind. Only one small part of the business that we have can continue without him, and I could carry that on while holding down a regular job. Even if I were able to live without working, I would want to work.
In two years, dd will be off to college and my domestic burden will lighten considerably. My hope is that I will be able to take a masters at that point and start some new career. It ought to coincide with dh slowing down on the work front, so it could work out.
Hi Felicia!
Let's see --- very little...
Probably some sort of health or special needs-related issue with one of my children is the only thing I could think of - where it would be both cost-prohibitive to do it through other care *and* emotionally 'not right' to me to not be the care provider. Other than that, I am not at all suited to change from FT WOH.
Now a more subtle work change I can already see as a possibility. I have the goal of being at PT status by the time the boys reach middle school age. We are on track for early retirement anyway (which I see as a direct result of our FT WOH status now) - I envision a gradual transition to retirement, and I would like to start that as the boys enter puberty. I feel like that is the time when I most want to be on hand for them after school, etc., and it happens to line up well with our other timelines.

Depends on how much of a change you mean.
The most likely reason for me to go back to work would be a serious downturn in DH's career, or a change of career.
