I am due with our first baby in October and currently work full time as a registered dietitian, I am not sure about working full time or part time after the baby comes. I just passed a part time job because it was in the hospital and I

All I'm going to comment on is the breast feeding. My son is exlusively BF. He's 7 months in a few days. Never had formula yet and never will. I went back to work when he was 3 months. I pump every 3-4 hours when I'm away from him. Its no big deal.
I went back to work when my twins were 13.5 months. I BF them too. No formula.
I plan on BF'ng this guy till he self weans, or turns 2, whichever comes first.
Work and BF is fine it just takes a really good pump (medella pump in style works for me); some creativity; and comitment.

Yes, I did work full time for about 14 months after I returned to work (after that, I switched to part time, which has been about 35-36 hrs/week on average.
I'd definitely have a frank conversation with your in-laws now. There is a big differences between occasionally babysitting and providing regular childcare.
And then there is the 3rd option--bottles (formula or ebm) during the day and breastfeeding at night. Dylan hated bottles, no matter what was in them. He reversed nursed, taking only enough during the day to stave off starving and nursing all night long.

hello!! it sounds pretty do-able to me. yeah, in the beginning you may be tired as you get used to being back at work, but that comes with the territory. as long as grandma and grandpa dont mind watching the baby-then i would do it.
Do you think I should go ahead and check with my in laws now even though my DH thinks its too early??
Throwing in my 2 cents. My little girl will be 5 months next week. I have been back to work since week 10. I am tired, really really tired. I started out with 8 hours a week and have slowly worked up to 30 a week. I am a working and pumping momma (it's not that bad, I promise!). But I have to tell you...5 month olds are not all into a routine! I can't say whether yours will be or not, but try to keep in mind that the best laid plans...lol.
That being said...can you start out working PT? I think it's a lot easier of a transition, personally. Or, if you think you'd do better jumping in full time, you could try. But part time is just a really good balance of both worlds, IMO.
