Yes its from birth to 5 years old, parents are the child's first teacher and that begins at birth, it doesn't start in kindergarten, well at least imo.
So the teacher assistant don't work in the class room all the time; they do copies, cutting shapes and putting packets together, book orders and other "busy" non directly relating with the students work instead of working with the students?
As I explained earlier it depends on the private school, you are assuming that there are no ESL students and very few low income students, which is simply not the case.
I was speaking of the education children start getting when they go to school. While that program might be good, it is not designed to keep parents involved once they are in school and I am pretty sure Obama was speaking of older children also :)
"I believe the parent volunteers are there to free up the teachers from busy work (copies, lunch duty, recess duty, cutting shapes, putting together packets, book orders, all kinds of things) so that they can focus on teaching."
"I wasn't speaking about my school district, that is not my current experience."
"I wasn't speaking of a school district, let alone the day to day operations of other districts. As I clearly stated, I was speaking about my children's schools."

I would agree, I think that is a great area for parents as it really frees up the teacher to teach and the assistant as well.

Well if those parents have the higher education and wealth, sure...but it's an assumption to assume that because
