What would YOU have to do to SAH?

If you're a WOH/WAH mom, what sort of "downsizing" would you need to do in order to afford to be a SAHM? (SAHM defined here as not earning any money)

For me, I would have to put all our non-essential possessions in storage and move in with my parents.

Same as our school but I don't think that means a parent should turn a blind eye.

Exactly and what kind of society would be if we didn't give all children, regardless of their parents situation, a decent basic education?

That's great and I hope she doesn't either BUT you still did not answer the question.

Why not?

I don't remember doing 3 hours of homework a night, with a parent on a daily basis in elementary school, do you?

yes..... what's your point? Gym and Library are not letter grades - she got "E"s for excellent effort in those. She got As in computers, art and music.

Honestly I can say with pretty much certainty that none of my children would need 3 hours of help. 4 are in school and have never spent more then 1/2 hour on homework a night in grade school If they need 3 hours of help something is wrong with my kid or the school. Nice thing about having 6 kids, they learn to be independent early on.

The problem is this kid doesn't "need" 3 hours of work a night, the teacher says that's absolutely ridiculas that mom works with him that much. The class has 1 normal homework assignment a week, to write their spelling words 3 times each. They have some studying and 1 book project a month.

yes I did -- I said if she misses a project I'll tell her to shape up, turn in the project, accept the responsibility and the reduced grade and don't let it happen again. That's all Liza would need - her last big project for the social studies fair earned her a 100 (A+) so it'd kill her to get a lower grade b/c of her own carelessness.

She's not, the mother told her what the teacher said.

No reason, just asking.

It may seem that way. She asked me about mom because she didn't know how to take her after conferences. Mom told me everything that was said at the conference. I told the teacher how he acts with mom and she told me he cries in class a lot. I asked my son and he said it was true. The teahcer is worried, she said the kids are fine with it now but come 5th or 6th grade he's going to get made fun of.
