What would YOU have to do to SAH?

If you're a WOH/WAH mom, what sort of "downsizing" would you need to do in order to afford to be a SAHM? (SAHM defined here as not earning any money)

For me, I would have to put all our non-essential possessions in storage and move in with my parents.

I was referring to more than her behavior. To me it is normal for a child to have *occasional* trouble on a subject and need help from a parent or even tutoring for a period of time. In my book, that still makes you one of the lucky ones.

It is a pretty big assumption that taking away the activity would prevent the F.

I think I am fortunate that in 7th grade this is the first subject that's gotten her goat.

No, not necessarily. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. It is important to know the difference between getting the A and actually learning something and to know when to go for which.

You know, one of the hardest things I have had to done as a parent, is to let my children deal with the consequences of their actions.....

Well, for YDS it isn't for just one subject and for just one year. It will be for all subjects and all years. He will most probably need a scribe and a reader for most of his life - at least to bridge the gap between technology and reality. So until he leaves our house, this will require DH or I to spend several hours each night with him on his homework for the foreseeable future. It means that he may need 5 years to graduate from HS and 5-6 years to graduate from undergraduate college. It isn't something that a twice a week tutor will solve.

It goes back to when it was first mentioned by 4thekids, she has 6 children and has a couple of friends with only children who spend 3 hours with their only children working one on one with them while they do their homework...not overseeing, checking or supervising homework, but one on one with them....pnj asked well what if all your kids needed that one on one time.....and I was just multiplying it by my 2 kids.
