What would YOU have to do to SAH?

If you're a WOH/WAH mom, what sort of "downsizing" would you need to do in order to afford to be a SAHM? (SAHM defined here as not earning any money)

For me, I would have to put all our non-essential possessions in storage and move in with my parents.

You know, in speaking to mothers of other 12/13 year old boys....the lost, forgot, didn't follow directions is pretty much a part of puberty/age of the boys...it's not unique to my son and according to the middle school counselor when I asked for advice on how I'm going about this and if what dh and I were doing was on the right track....he confirmed with me what we were doing was the best course of action.

I don't have a 9 year old and as I have said, this is a work in progress a journey...things change from year to year....what I expected of my 9 year old is totally different than what I now expect of him at 11 years of age.

Which is different than what I'm doing...exactly

Actually it's the best time, the grades don't factor into the overall gpa in high school.

In my district, it *is* lack of resources-- for example, money to reduce class sizes, provide tutoring and other intervention services, offer every kid who needs it early preschool and all-day K (they're working on that one, however). And I think resources should be addressed toward the barriers some parents face in being more involved in their kids' education.

I don't know if that's possible, but I think it's possible to have more involvement from many parents in my district. I'm certainly not willing to say that unless you get 100% involvement, it isn't worth trying. I think kids deserve that.

Yes, of course! I'm not talking about you. There are lots of ways to be involved in your child's education.

Yep, I would think this is obvious, and the teachers I know sure agree.
