What would YOU have to do to SAH?

If you're a WOH/WAH mom, what sort of "downsizing" would you need to do in order to afford to be a SAHM? (SAHM defined here as not earning any money)

For me, I would have to put all our non-essential possessions in storage and move in with my parents.

I would love to know the answer to that one. Dylan brought home a classroom assignment because he didn't finish it in class (an on going problem of his is that he wastes time in class). He finished it that night but didn't turn it in the next morning. I found it in his backpack last night. A not uncommon situation for him. As soon as it's done, he's done with it and forgets the minor detail (to him) of turning it in.

Have you ever really and truly met a child that is normal in every thing? IME, EVERY child has something that makes him/her stand out and EVERY child child has something that sets him/her back. That is NORMAL.

So, yes MY CHILD IS NORMAL.

I wish Dylan would learn that. It just might take failing a grade to get it through his head, though.

Getting an F on each assignment not turned in doesn't appear to be a severe enough consequence to motivate change.

Is the alternative to that him continuing to receive Fs on assignments not turned in, and simply waiting for him to mature?

One of the reasons I sometimes sit down with my fourth grader is to help teach him those organizational and problem-solving skills now, not in middle school.

I have finally made it through the rest of this thread, lol....

I think that there has been a huge communication gap in this thread.

Yes, I agree. As I also believe that parents who don't see 3d grade as the magic age by which parents need to stop checking their children's homework or helping with projects are not helicopter parents.
