What would YOU have to do to SAH?

If you're a WOH/WAH mom, what sort of "downsizing" would you need to do in order to afford to be a SAHM? (SAHM defined here as not earning any money)

For me, I would have to put all our non-essential possessions in storage and move in with my parents.

Can you provide a post where someone dismissed those skills as trival?

I've done flashcards with my kids, I think they really help with the memorization of the times tables.

I had a similar confirmation of dd's abilities this afternoon. She calls to tell me she's home safe. I'd gotten an email a few days ago (at work) about the activities of tonight's GS meeting. I know the leader emails the girls directly too, but dd doesn't use her email a whole lot, so I usually check in with dd about it.

No, I have not declared such parents as "worthless" -- I've said the opposite and you know it.

>> I think that in many (most?) cases there are other, more efficient or more fitting, ways to solve the problem. <<

Yes to everything you said, plus I would have my child assessed for learning disabilities.

>> Suit yourself. I'm more than willing to do that. I'd even take vacation time from work to make time. <<

Eventually you would run out of vacation time. And then what would you do - quit your job?
