Kind of random but, my Algebra II teacher consistently calculated my grade wrong each quarter, because she had misplaced my papers or recorded them incorrectly. Every quarter I had to show her all of the papers she had returned and look over her shoulder to double check that my grade was going to show up correctly on my progress report.
with dsd, I'll send a paper back with a note or a question mark on it if I think it was marked in error.
when my students have questions like this I will look at what was marked wrong. If it's in their favor, I will give them the credit back because, yes we all make mistakes at one time or another.
Exactly, we pay for a tutor now for example for my youngest, for something he wasn't taught fully in school but that is totally different than sitting with my child every single night as he does his homework and checking to make sure it is all correct.
Oh there is something about seeing it in person, at least to me and my family.....I remember my oldest had learned about the civil war the year before we spent a week at the beach north of Charleston SC, we toured Fort Sumter and it really made a more larger, deeper, richer impression on my son than if we had spent the time working on his homework together during the civil war period in his class.
What is being debated is daily working with a child on their homework, checking daily to make sure that all answers are correct...something that I think a child should take over around 3rd grade, others believe up through high school.

I would say yes, but perhaps for a different reason as you.

We combine them, laying on the beach and learning adventures...

....and gaining nothing in the process.
