What would YOU have to do to SAH?

If you're a WOH/WAH mom, what sort of "downsizing" would you need to do in order to afford to be a SAHM? (SAHM defined here as not earning any money)

For me, I would have to put all our non-essential possessions in storage and move in with my parents.

Bingo - I should have read ahead. I get much of my daily information on my kids' education directly from them rather than elsewhere.

I am probably over involved in my children's education. I know the curriculum and teacher's lesson plans, but I don't particularly care about homework unless there is a problem. We try to do something experiential related to the curriculum every month. Tonight, we're looking for the Comet Lulin somewhere in the eastern sky, no luck so far.

So then why do you need or he need you to go over it again?

Of course not and I have clearly said so in a variety of posts in this debate.

I totally agree with what you are saying, it's also what I've been saying...so I'm not sure I'm following if you think I think it's a big deal?

I see the weekly assignments, but no, I don't see the teacher's lesson plans and I don't delve deeply into curriculum.

Yes, that is pretty much our course of action as well and I think we have done all four at one time or another.

I agree with one addition...I think it's three, not two pieces.... 1 - teacher

Oh yes it does, prepare a child for college and it can put bread on the table.

I have more than one friend, from either HS or college, that is making their living doing "theatre stuff".

"The responsibility of an extra curricular where a child excels is a vital part of a child's education."

CAN be a vital part. There was no extracurricular activity
